Christmas Ready Landscaping

Every landscaping project has different considerations according to the needs and wants of the owner. Putting up Christmas decorations and lights durring the holidays is a favorite tradition and activity for a lot of people. So designing their landscaping with electrical outlets and access throughout the landscaping can prove to be a huge time saver as well as very convenient when time for holiday decorating.

When talking about landscaping for Christmas, most folks will be considering the role of certain plants in the Winter garden. Evergreens like Holly of course are a common symbol of Christmas and keep their color all year. It’s also common to see wreaths made out of them. Many other plants that produce red berries, again like the Holly, also can create a Christmas atmosphere throughout the Winter landscape.

While plants are necessary to create Winter interest in landscaping and garden design, it’s not what we’re talking about here. What this article looks at first is the folks who enjoy decorating their yards, homes, and landscapes for Christmas and other holiday in a big way. It may be practical for these people to factor decorating, decorations, and Christmas lighting into their landscaping and yard design plans. In other words, make electrical outlets accessible throught the landscaping.

Because they’re so large and elaborate, a lot of the modern Christmas decorations and light displays use a lot of electricity to run them. From just a few decorations and lights to huge computerized visual displays of lights that spread out over the whole yard. The outlets and circuits required to run these displays may exceed the outlets and power that the home has available. The majority of landscape designs never give any consideration to adding electricity where it’s needed for doing such things as Christmas yard decorations. Right out in the yard itself.

Besides electrical access for Christmas and other holiday decorations, electricity placed throughout your yard can be a convenience for other purposes. And while low voltage electrical lighting is common throughout landscapes and gardens, very few people ever consider adding house current in the yard and landscaping.

So once decided as a consideration for your landscaping plan, electrical outlets, lines, and anything house current has to be installed by professionals. There’s is no room for even a slight error when installing electricity. It a good idea if the network designed to power the decorations has a dedicated circuit. This way, there should be plenty of power for the entire decorating system network. Also, if anything goes wrong with the system, it can be worked on and maintained without shuting down the power to the house.

A final thought for adding electic outlets and utilities in your landscape is how visible it all will be. If it’s possible to hide the electrical outlets into the landscaping, you should do it. If there are flower beds or other planting areas in the yard or landscaping, electrical junctions can be hidden in with the plants or other ground cover. Electrical outlets can also be installed in weatherproof juctions placed in flower beds or even directly into lawn areas. Until they’re needed, they are unnoticed.

Again, every landscape or garden design is created different and should have considerations according to the wants and needs of the owner. And a lot of people make a big annual production out of decorating their homes for Christmas, Halloween, and other holidays. Planning dedicated electrical access into their landscaping can prove to be a convenient time saving addition when it comes to time to decorate for the holidays.
