How you can care for a foxtail palm

One of the best looking palms around to have and to grow are the foxtail palm trees.  It is a spectacular palm tree named because of it’s foliage.  Each leaf looks like a fox tail.The name is derived because of that very fact.  It is originally from Australia but is now grown in a variety of landscapes.  Since it is native to Australia there are some things you should know to care for it.In this article we shall take a look at a few of those ways.

First of all you have to be aware of the climate that foxtail palms thrive in. Because it likes drier climates the sunbelt areas are great for growing them.It you try to plant it in an environment that isn’t like that, then the problems start to begin.Because if placed in climates that are colder it can get various diseases.Another thing that isn’t good for the foxtail are wet soils because the root will begin to rot.So the thing you will want to do that works best is to keep the soil dry and the ground well drained.

Next thing to look for if you are in the market to look for palm trees for sale is to not overwater the foxtail.Even though it is pretty good in being resistant to most bugs it does develop fungal disease. The main cause is due to overwatering.The optimal way to care for it is not to overwater and make sure to have good drainage.For a palm tree that has a reputation for being one of the hardier of palms, that should be easy to look out for.

And lastly the foxtail palm tree grows very easily.  Some palm trees like king palms aren’t so easy to grow as a foxtail.That is a big reason that more people are beginning to like foxtails.It grows well in either a partly shaded area or with full sun.  Also you don’t have to prune it often.Since most people really want low maintenance things, this palm tree will be the perfect fit.

So those benefits are what makes it nice to have foxtail palm trees.As you can plainly see even without the populartiy of some palm trees, it still has it’s benefits.
