It’s still too early to do most of the planting in the garden, but if you are looking to start growing your own fruit, veg or even just some attractive flowers this summer, then you will have to think about braving the chill in mid February and giving the beds a quick fork over with some fertilizer. For those who didn’t think far enough ahead to put some fertiliser in before winter, there are some solutions which will let you hit the ground running and improve the soil in time for the planting season.

Assuming that you are not going to carpet-bomb the garden with bags of nitrogen and phosphates, then a good-quality manure will be a good way to ensure some excellent growth for the season ahead. Good manure doesn’t just give the chemicals that pants require, it also provides a better quality of soil structure which will be essential for root growth and encourage beneficial bacteria and organisms.

One of the best types of manure is cow manure, having been chewed and re-chewed by the cow this then proceeds through several stomachs ensuring that the plant material is thoroughly broken down. However, what is normally a traditional smell of the countryside during the muck-spreading may not sit quite so well in an urban environment, especially if you have neighbours with sensitive noses.

You might alternatively try horse manure. It isn’t as well digested as cow manure and you will still see some of the raw plant material in there, but the smell won’t be as objectionable to next door and it will still provide your garden with essential nutrients. You can obtain horse manure either as fresh, or as well rotted. The former will be more acidic, the latter will suit plants and shrubs that favour more neutral conditions. If the idea of animal manure still doesn’t appeal, then mushroom compost is an excellent alternative, although as many of the types use chalk rather than straw in their composition, it isn’t recommended for fruits or plants that are not keen on alkaline conditions.

With the recent snows over, it’s getting closer to the point when I will have to venture out into the garden and assess the damage caused and figure out what I need to do to make it look presentable. One of the downsides to having a large garden and a busy job is not having much time to spend in doing much else except weeding and lawn mowing: most of the shrubs are left to get on with it themselves..

One thing I do try and get around to doing is putting some fertilizer into the soil. The torrential rain and thawing snow has overwhelmed the sand and grit I put in for drainage last year, and I reckon most of the organic content has been washed out to the point I’m left with clay beds that set like rock. Once there’s an extended spell of good weather, I head out using an electric hand-held rotovator, which pulls out the weeds and churns over the soil giving it a good turn and a chance to compost it. I’ve used different composts over the years, but these days the one I usually use is mushroom compost. This doesn’t seem to wash out so easily, and everything in the garden seems to be perfectly happy and not take exception to the alkalinity.

With so little time to spend gardening, the less time I can spend weeding, the better. Putting coverings of bark chippings on the flower beds not only looks attractive but will eliminate weeding for at least a month and also improve the soil as it eventually rots away. Just remember to turn it over from time to time, especially after mowing the lawn to keep the neatness and stop weeds finding a purchase in the upper layers. If you want a solution that is not going to eventually rot, or get blown about or rifled by inquisitive birdlife, then slate chippings may be more suitable.

For best results you will need to put a membrane down and also excavate some of the topsoil so your flower bed remains flush, but with a variety of natural colours you can use to counterpoint your blooms, it makes a wonderfully attractive and low-maintenance landscaping option.

It has to be said that there are many on land hotels that are fantastic but has anyone thought of the undersea ones? Some people would prefer to stay in holiday cottages in Sussex there is no doubt about that but if you could afford it you would most certainly stay in one of these locations.

Jules Undersea Lodge

As if Florida wasn’t unique enough with all of the fantastic theme parks and attractions it has already. The undersea lodge is a hotel in Key Largo, Florida and is the only hotel of its kind in the United States. This small hotel is actually 30ft under the sea and the only way you can get in is if you were to dive in and all rooms feature air con and power. The great thing about this place is that if you have a scuba license they will give you as much air as you need meaning you can go out whenever you want.

Poseidon Resorts

This is of course another underwater resort but this time its a bit more different! The price of staying at place like this obviously going to be high at around $30,000 for the week but they are five star hotels. Each of the rooms is set to include a 270 degree view of the ocean which is pretty amazing. There is of course going to be a restaurant put in place along with a bar and the only way in or out of the hotel is via an elevator. A private bungalow is also set to be installed with access only available through a submarine. Now that is a place I would love to stay in! IS this really going to happen.

Of course for a lot of people this wouldn’t be something they would be interested in and staying at that lovely cottage in Sussex with the smell of topsoil and mushroom compost. There is nothing wrong with this at all, a nice relaxing stay in the cottage could do anyone some good.

There do seem to be many holiday locations out there to choose from and it really does depend on what you like to do. On the other end of the scale there are many places you should not be travelling too and this is even more true if you are alone.

A Hostel

Seen the movies, do you know what can happen if you stay in a hostel. Well the first thing that is going to happen is you meeting some very nice looking European girls, if this happens then make sure you remember this is way too good to be true. They are only there to take you to the place where the killing happens. At least you get a bit of a treat from them first though right? If your friends seem to be going missing halfway through the stay then I would get out of there as soon as you can!

Cottages

So you’ve just kidnapped someone with your brother and think it is going to plan out fine, right? Wrong. You will find yourself being led to a farm by accident in which you will start to see the family get killed around you, then the killer will feed you to his cannibal family. So all in all you will find your body decomposing in the lovely farm topsoil and mushroom compost suppliers in no time at all!

Weird Apartments

Okay do not ever turn into a building that has a broken sign saying vacancy as this is sure to land you in trouble. You find a tape that shows many people getting killed in the same room you are in, is this special effects or murder! The best thing to do here is get out as fast as you can.

None of these are very going to happen to you and they are of course based on three brilliant films, Hostel, Vacancy and The cottage.

For a proper, relaxing stay in the countryside why not look into self catering cottages.

The ingredients you need to start to make mushroom compost is manure, hay, poultry manure, gypsum and mushroom spawn as well as a large compost bin and steam machine. When you have got all these ingredients you are ready to begin.

1. To star mix gypsum and manure.

2. Then added the mixture to the bottom of your compost bin and leave it out in the sunlight for 2 or 3 weeks, this will give it enough time to decompose. Once this has happened the bin needs to be covered to allow the compost to get heated and all the organic materials to become decomposed.

3. You need to use your steam machine indoors to allow the compost to pasteurize. The sterilized rooms with the ventilation has to be used for allowing the steam to blow inside the room till such time the room gets heated to an approximate of 1600.

4. Once the compost is pasteurized it needs to be placed on trays and the mushroom spawn added and mixed thoroughly.

5. Then added peat moss to the tray and this needs to be kept inside and the humidity and the temperature of the room controlled. The full growth of mushrooms should be expected within 30 days.

A quality mushroom can be grown with the help of horse manure. The same can be purchased from the shops or in the case of the fresh manure 20% of wet straw has to be added and to be left outside in the heap. After a few hours the heaps will become hot in the centre. The process has to be repeated and it has to be kept moist. When it achieves the rotten position, the centre of the heap will not become hot.

All my life I have been struggling to get by, with no money and nothing in my life things were hard. I never genuinely had a adequate job or an income that was worth cheering about, the reason I think this was, was merely due down to the fact that I could not find somethIng I was interested in.

Well my advance in life started a few months ago when I decided to do a bit of horticulture. I am not really an zealous gardener myself but it was getting really messy. My neighbour had even given me some left over mushroom compost to get me a little more enthusiastic, so I got my handset on and started mowing the grass. Whilst mowing all I could see under a patch of grass was a black stain.

I went to check out this stain further and I saw a huge pile of oil. I really got afraid so called the local government to check what was going on. When they told me that I had a vast amount of oil below the family home I could not stop smiling. I went to a specialist and got this oil evaluated and to my shock they said it was worth one million pounds.

They said they needed to buy the house off me and gave me double the asking value. Ever since then my life has one big rollercoaster. I used my brain and invested all of that money into businesses and properties and I finally found something that I liked to do and that was being my own boss and literally being in full control.

It was luck that made me spot that oil, and any home could in fact have the same luck if they looked hard enough. So start up heaving your top soil and start looking as you never know what you might find.

After reading this article you should have enough info to hopefully make your own mushroom compost and miss out the middle man.

The ingredients you need to start to make mushroom compost is manure, hay, poultry manure, gypsum and mushroom spawn as well as a large compost bin and steam machine.
3. The steam machine needs to be used indoors this allows the compost to pasteurize. The sterilized rooms with the ventilation has to be used for allowing the steam to blow inside the room till such time the room gets heated to an approximate of 1600.

4. Once complete the compost should be placed on trays and mushroom spawn introduced.

I never genuinely had a adequate job or an income that was worth cheering about, the reason I think this was, was merely due down to the fact that I could not find somethIng I was interested in.
