Easily accessible from the front and designed to work with any traditional backpack or independently, RIBZ allows you to keep your essential gear in a fast and easy to reach location. The Ribz front pack is an excellent option for those putting together an ultralight backpacking strategy. Their weight is under a pound, at 11 oz. Utilizing the 800 cubic inches of storage in the front pack can reduce the size of your backpack dramatically. Front packs move a portion of the weight forward, improving the balance of the load, and improving your posture and mobility. Four external zippered pockets, and four additional internal pockets provide plenty of storage options. The shoulder straps of the RIBZ pack are extra-wide, heavy-duty nylon, designed to evenly distribute the weight, yet remain comfortable when wearing with an additional backpack. The back of the RIBZ pack consists of two adjustable velcro straps which will not bunch up or sag when wearing the RIBZ with backpack.

Who would of thought that survival living would be a reality in America?

We in America are ruined. We have so many decisions at the grocery store that it is beyond the imagination that food won’t be there. Though there are several|many right here in the US who go to bed hungry on a regular basis, the true food shortages which have sparked riots in other nations have so far escaped the States. It is foolish to think we are immune forever.

Wendell Berry discussed in his book ‘The Unsettling of America’ 31 years ago that food was too necessary to be used as a weapon. People have ignored that idea for thirty years because – WE have food on the grocery shelves and it can’t be that bad.

Society looked the other way as dairy farmers struggled to hang on to herds of a pair hundred cows and maintain their lifestyle. It looked the other way again when small hog farmers were buried under 9 cent hogs, a price that meant ham alone brought twice what the entire pig cost. Some farmers gave hogs away as it might cost them to sell or keep them.

This eliminated many alternatives for our food. While we see now that with oil those who have it can, will, and do dictate the price folks don’t see the flashing neon sign that our food supply is in an identical scenario. Indeed, customers are for the most part so oblivious of it that they continue to get on cost, generating revenue for the few of company entities that hold the majority of our survival food storage.

Archer Daniels Midland – ADM – bills itself as’supermarket to the world’ and had a 67% increase in profits while Cargill – resented by little farmers around the world – had an 86% profit increase.

Most patrons haven’t a clue what some ingredients in their products truly are.
for example, sorbitol is a hydrogenated sugar alcohol derived from corn, which is used in sugarless gums and candy, as well as being an ingredient in polyurethane.

As one of the biggest processors of oil seed, ADM produces soybean powder and meal for human and animal use. Extracted from that’s a crude oil used not only for edible oils, plant oils and lecithin, but also for commercial oil, biodiesel, and polymers.

Cargill – enjoying record profits – has its hands in baked products, cereals, drinks from alcohol to soft drinks to fruit drinks, candy and chocolate, dairy, health and organic ( think sports drinks, vitamins ), meat and poultry, pharmaceuticals, prepared foods ( seasonings, jams/jellies, side and main dish mixes, puddings, sauces and masses more ) and snack foods. You won’t see ‘Cargill’ on grocery store shelves overtly labeled just like you will not see the other majority players, but it is’s there and much of what you eat comes from them.

Rest assured when it comes to maintaining those record profits that they are going to have that in mind before those too poor to buy their foods. Cotton farmers in India, pushed out by Monsanto cotton, have committed suicide at the chance of losing their livelihood, and farmers in numerous other nations do not even desire them as neighbors. If it comes to their finances or yours – theirs will take precedence. Monsanto and Cargill each own 50% of a corporation that markets genetically engineered foods globally.

Monsanto eagerly pushes farmers into courtrooms where a small farmer has no possibility of winning, whether or not they’ve ever planted their seed. One farmer was held accountable for planting their genetic altered seed on land he didn’t even own – which made no difference in the courtroom. Comprehensive power corrupts totally is an appropriate adage to describe what’s happening.

With these companies holding the vast majority of our food supplywhat occurs when they raise prices and demand more profits? We will do without fuel – but we will not do without food. Sadly, the headlights are approaching and Yank consumers don’t have any idea to move off the road.

Corporate America exists for one thing – Cash. They would give a token amount for charities but profit comes before anything. Lower costs drive the ‘reasons’ for GMO products, which the general public do not want to eat and farmers do not want near their fields.

If your checkbook is drained and they are showing record profits do you suspect they’ll barter with you as little farmers will? Do you believe they are going to feel sorry and say’here’s groceries until you get on your feet? Not going to occur – it cuts into their profit. Farmers have seen it – consumers don’t and are unaware of it.

Knowing how to build survival shelters is essential, if you face a survival situation in harsh or unpredictable weather. A good shelter must protect you from the rain. wind, and cold and be comfortable enough for sleeping and resting. Many people cannot survive unprotected from rough weather for an extended period of time or without proper survival gear.

The purpose in having a shelter is not only to protect you, but also to preserve your body heat. This is accomplished in one or more of four basic ways. First, by keeping yourself dry so you do not lose heat through the evaporative process. Second, by insulating you from the ground or snow to limit conductive heat loss. Third, by blocking the wind which could carry body heat away. Lastly, when the shelter space is small enough where the air around you can be heated by your body.

The type of survival shelter you build will depend very much on the equipment you carry with you, and upon the terrain and climate you are in. There are general guidelines which can be applied to any wilderness survival situation. Knowing techniques for making simple good shelters is an important part of your survival skill-set.

Tips On Choosing Shelters Site

1) Best place to choose is on the ground:

– that is dry, reasonably flat and well drained.

– that has a supply of firewood and is a comfortable distance to water.

– that has building materials for your shelter.

– that can protect against any strong winds.

2) Make sure your survival shelter site is easy find just in case you get lost and people may be looking for you.

3) Look for natural formations that could create a easy shelter structure. Examples include caves, rocky crevices and large trees with low-hanging limbs. you will need to build your own, If no natural formation is available to provide shelter,.

Unsuitable Shelters Sites:

– A site too close to water may lead you to be troubled by insects.

– Rivers can present a threat to safety. Flash floods can be easily created by heavy rainfall in nearby hills. Stay away from dry riverbeds.

– Avoid loose rocks, dead trees or other natural growth that could fall on your shelter.

– Low ground, such as narrow valleys and ravines, could collect the heavy cold air at night, making it colder than the surrounding high ground. Also, the tops of mountains are usually exposed to higher winds. The best area to seek shelter is somewhere in between.

Looking for plans for a portable, solid-wall structure that keeps you warm and dry when you are in the Wilderness.

Knowing how to build survival shelters is essential, if you face a survival situation in harsh or unpredictable weather. A good shelter must protect you from the elements and be comfortable enough for resting and sleeping. Many people cannot survive unprotected from rough weather for an extended period of time or without proper survival gear.

The goal in having a shelter is not only to protect you from the environment, but also to preserve your body heat. This is accomplished in one or more of four basic ways. First, by keeping yourself dry so you do not lose heat through the evaporative process. Second, by insulating you from the ground or snow to limit conductive heat loss. Third, by blocking the wind which would otherwise carry away body heat. Lastly, when the shelter space is small enough where the air around you can be heated by your body.

The type of survival shelter you build will depend very much on the equipment you carry with you, and upon the terrain and climate you are in. There are basic principles that can be applied to any wilderness survival situation. An important part of your survival skills is knowing how to make simple good shelters.

Tips On Choosing Shelters Site

1) If possible choose ground:

– that is dry, well drained and reasonably flat.

– that has a supply of firewood and is a comfortable distance to water.

– that has some building materials for your wilderness shelter or temporary home.

Unsuitable Sites For Shelters:

– A site too close to water may lead you to be troubled by insects.

– Rivers can present a threat to safety. Heavy rainfall in nearby hills can easily create flash floods. Avoid dry riverbeds.

– If possible, stay away from dead trees, loose rocks, or other natural growth that could fall on your shelter.

– Low ground, such as ravines and narrow valleys, could be damp and collect the heavy cold air at night and are therefore be colder than the surrounding high ground. On the other hand, the tops of mountains are exposed to higher winds. The best area to seek shelter is somewhere in between.

Wonderful plans for a portable, solid-wall structure that is easy to create.

When food shortages happen, those who have planned ahead with edible survival garden using survival seeds will really benefit. People regularly landscape around their houses with stunning flowers, for the benefit of the birds and butterflieswhy not benefit you personally as well?

Blueberries are simple to plant around a home and with good care it will produce blueberries for muffins, drying, nibbling, ice cream toppings and plenty of other goodies! Cherry trees can be ornamental and productive and if you don’t have room for trees there also are bush cherries available! In the right zones, tangerines, lime, lemon and orange trees offer fruit and shade. Coffee plants can be kept in boxes on the corner of decks, and cranberries, currants and a host of other berries can be run along fence lines.

Ginkgo is a long cultivated nut tree with a unusual point in a female and male tree is needed to provide nuts. They grow up to thirty feet high in full sun, and the males might be kept on your street or front porch with the female back further so you can harvest the nuts without competition!

Do you’ve a sitting area you’d like to make use of? There is not a better area to use for your survival garden than growing herbs! Planters can host chocolate mint, lemon mint as well as the commoner spearmint and peppermint – keep them separated as they can be aggressive. Rosemary, thyme, lavender, lemon grass and horseradish are all productive plants as well . You can, with a little research, make a tea garden to slurp sweet tea on summer afternoons, or a potpourri/craft garden if that’s an interest for you. Best of all is a kitchen garden – garlic, basil, savoury and a good range of other plants can be grown in most areas. You get a year’s worth of landscaping plus food. Plants like rosemary can handle rather a lot of trimming once established and fresh herbs are much better than the processed ones!

Adventurous gardeners may try less common plants like josta berry, jujubes and apricots. If you like nuts, almonds are another likelihood for those with extra space. Have a shady area you would like to use? Get a log implanted with shiitake mushrooms, which can last many years. This is a great way, if you like mushrooms, to grow your own and use the space that isn’t entirely in the sun.

Strawberries are a conspicuous choice for very little effort. A flower box with pansies can generate lavender pansy preserves as well as decorating. Rhubarb is another probability, with rhubarb pie being a favorite of many people.

This is just as feasible for those in cooler climates as in the seaside sectors. Smaller trees and plants can provide considerable food for a small family as well as dressing up your yard with flowers and perfume – after all flowers are needed for fruit!

Some use vines to cover areas and among the vines that can be used is grapes. Gourds and other vines can also be ‘trained’ up a trellis.

A natural offshoot as you start your survival garden with eatable food is composting – compost bins do not have to be unsightly! While many use pallets – which can be ‘dressed up’ with flowers or ‘hidden’ behind bushes – an older trash can works well also. An old metal one which will leak is great – put a few holes in it and dress it up with a coat of paint. You won’t have to pay to have grass and other things hauled off – compost it, turn it back into something useful for your survival garden!

The College of Nevada designed, installed and maintained a strip in the town of Reno. One area was engineered to attract insects ( which pollinates the landscaping ), but there had been also a salsa garden, salad/herb garden, evergreens, ‘Three Sisters garden’, tomatoes and ground cherries. This is a excellent use of garden space!

There are many websites and books available on these subjects like survival food storage; it is not troublesome or dear to provide edible survival garden!
