Tips for Hiking in Utah
Southern Utah has some fantastic hiking trails. In fact the great Utah National Parks can be an unbelievable experience and can put you in front of some of the most spectacular landmarks in the world. If you are going hiking in Utah or somewhere else you’ll want to remember these hiking safety tips.
1. Start Early
The earlier you head out the more things you will be able to get to and the more trails you’ll be able to take. There are only so many hours of the day and if you get to the park at 1pm or so half of those hours are already gone. The earlier you start the more you will be able to do and see, it is as simple as that.
2. Go With a Buddy
We all know about the buddy system and how it is used to keep people safe. There have been far too many horror stories about hikers who went hiking alone and got trapped only to disappear into the wilderness. Instead going with a buddy can help you to be sure that you will both get back safety. It is just safer to go in groups.
As an added bonus hiking with a buddy is a much funner experience. Going hiking alone might be peaceful, but hiking with at least one other person can make the trip a whole lot better and more enjoyable.
3. Don’t Disturb The Wilderness
Another thing to remember is to not disturb the wilderness. Ideally you want to leave the wilderness exactly as it was when you first arrived there. You can do this by staying on the trail and making sure that you don’t step on anything living.
It may not seem like one person will cause a whole lot of damage, but if everyone who goes down that trail believes this then the wilderness will not last forever. We all need to do our part in making sure that this beautiful world we live in remains beautiful for future generations.
